JO’S BAR IS 30!

If you are on Facebook, join the conversation and share some of your foggy memories.

The first expat-owned bar of the post-commie era

Glen moved to Prague in January 1990 and immediately saw business opportunities everywhere! With his first business partners he was involved in Laundry Kings and the first Apple McIntosh computer store in Czechoslovakia.

He then started planning a North American styled bar.

He recruited the help of his sister Jo Emery and his friend Bobby Herron – who travelled from Canada in May 1992 and Jo's Bar opened on November 6, 1992.

In 1994 Glen welcomed partners: Bobby, Drew and Roman and together they opened Jo's Garáž - a very cool space in the cavern below Jo's Bar.

Glen went on with business partner John-Bruce (JB) Shoemaker - Lewis & Clarke Expeditions - to open multiple venues at  the magnificient Obecní dům: Repre Klub, Thirsty Dog, Cafe Nouveau, Martini Bar and a billiard hall.

Glen now owns 2 Bukowski's bars: Žižkov and Letna
